Microsoft announced over the weekend, through the official blog of the Microsoft Office product development group , that Office 2010, SharePoint 2010, Visio 2010 and Project 2010 have been released-to-manufacturing (RTM).

Volume Licence customers with active Software Assurance (SA) will be one of the first to receive the 2010 products, by downloading them from the Volume Licensing Service Centre on April 27. Customers without active Software Assurance will be able to purchase the new products through Volume Licensing from May 1. MSDN and TechNet subscribers will get a slight head-start, being able to download the new releases on April 22. Also customers purchasing a boxed copy of Office 2007 activated between March 5 and September 30 can receive a free upgrade to 2010. Microsoft has previously stated that the official launch of Office 2010 will be May 12, with a virtual launch, available at http://www.the2010event.com. As part of the virtual launch, Stephen Elop, President of Microsoft’s Business Division, will be delivering a keynote, and the launch site will contain product demos, testimonials and interviews with product managers. Attendees of the virtual launch will be able to participate with live Q+A, blogs, tweets and comments, and can learn about the Next Wave of productivity with on-demand breakout sections showing how Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010 solutions can meet the unique challenges of today and tomorrow.
