Microsoft release Expression 4 - add Silverlight and WPF 4 support
Published: 10/06/2010 | Last Revision: 10/06/2010
Highlights of the latest release include support for creating Silverlight 4 and WPF 4 content in Expression Blend, SketchFlow project publishing to SharePoint which can improve the feedback process for prototype applications, in-built SEO analysis and reporting capabilities in Expression Web for increasing search engine rankings, Live Smooth Steaming for broadcasting uninterrupted playback via Expression Encoder and much more.
This release also introduces a simplification of the Expression product line-up. Expression Studio 4 Ultimate replaces Expression Studio and comes with the complete suite of products, Expression Studio 4 Professional comes with Expression Web, Encoder and Design and Expression Studio Premium, which is only available to MSDN Premium subscribers, comes with Expression Web, Blend, Encoder and Design (it does not include SketchFlow capabilities).
The good news for retail Expression 3 owners is that they can get a free upgrade. Simply install the trial version of Expression 4 over the Expression 3 install and you will have a fully activated copy of Expression 4.
Note that if you're looking to develop applications for Windows Phone 7, this version of Expression is not yet compatible with the Windows Phone SDK - you need to continue using the beta version of Expression.
Find out more information about Expression 4 or download the trial.
